Cambridgeshire Society of Recorder Players
Playing Day – Saturday June 9th 2012
Directed by Moira Usher
The Cambridgeshire branch of the Society of Recorder Players
will host its annual recorder playing day on Saturday June 9th 2012
at the Landbeach Village Hall, Cambridgeshire. CB25 9FD. The event will
be directed by Moira Usher.
Moira Usher is a leading figure in the world of recorder playing. After
graduating from Trinity College of Music, Moira taught music for 13
years. She is the founder and conductor or the EROS recorder orchestra,
a conductor with the Suffolk branch of the SRP, and performs with the
“Sweet Pipes” recorder ensemble. Her extensive experience
has led to recognition by the SRP where she is on the national conductors
list and is the training officer of the central SRP committee. Moira
also teaches on the Recorder Summer School and the Northern Recorder
course. If that isn’t enough, she runs a community choir and still
has time for some private pupils!
Thankfully she has found time to direct our playing day and has planned
an interesting and enjoyable session. Music to be played will include
Deus Deus Meus by Gabrielli arranged Allen, Correlli’s Concerto
Grosso Op 6 no 3 arranged by Moira herself, Tanto Quanto by Maute, and
Pipe Dreams by Charlton. Instrumentation varies from AATB quartet to
a full recorder orchestra line up, so plenty of variety for us.
Plenty of tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be provided but bring
a picnic lunch to be enjoyed outside
Places are limited so please register early to ensure a place. The session
will start at 10.30am and finish at 4pm and costs £10 per person.
